If all relevant mouse keys light up (including the scroll wheel arrows) then congratulations, your mouse passed the test!
If one or more of the relevant keys do not light up it means your mouse has failed the test!
If your mouse doesn't pass the test, there are usually two possible reasons why:
1: Outdated browser. See discussion below. To summarize, you should try Chrome or Firefox (up-to-date versions too) for this test so that all 5 buttons and the scroll wheel can be identified.
2: Mouse malfunction. If you suspect this may be the case, and you've already tried changing browsers, try this test on another computer and see what happens. If the same buttons don't light up, the mouse is most likely faulty.
Are you experiencing issues with your mouse? Whether you're a gamer, designer, or everyday computer user, mouse performance is crucial for productivity and enjoyment. Our Mouse Tester is a simple, effective tool that helps you check your mouse buttons and functionality online, quickly and for free!
The buttons this page will examine are:
Unfortunately not yet. Some older browsers will not be able to record the event of some mouse clicks, and so only some buttons will be able to be tested. Use a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox to test properly (IE and Edge won't work).
A Mouse Tester allows you to examine whether your mouse buttons (left, right, middle, and additional buttons) are working as they should. You can also check for double-clicking issues, which can affect gaming, design work, or daily tasks. By testing your mouse, you can ensure that each button press is registered accurately without any mis clicks or delays.
The most common problems checked by a mouse button test are double-clicking, poor clicking, and poor tracking. Although these problems can often be fixed by cleaning the mouse or adjusting the settings, if this doesn't work, you may need to replace the mouse.
Yes! You can easily see if your mouse registers double-clicks when it shouldn't.
Our tester works with all standard wired and wireless mice, including gaming mice.
If the tool detects issues, and cleaning or updating drivers doesn’t help, it might be time to replace your mouse.
Yes! As long as your browser supports JavaScript, this tool works on all major operating systems.
We recommend testing your mouse at least once a month or whenever you notice performance issues.
